Basketball Career

I turned 18 in June and am a 6 foot 160 pound point guard. My play style has changed several times from when I started playing basketball in 4th grade. At that time I was a post. When I entered middle school, I switched to a guard and looked to ISO a lot. As I have matured in both personality and basketball, I have realize if I continued playing as I was, college basketball would not be an option for me. After a year of struggling, my play style has changed to a pass first defensive-minded point guard, who can hit the open shots, get paint touches and create opportunities for myself and for my teammates. I feel like my strength is my defense and my ability to create plays for my teammates. My weakness is my consistency when shooting. I have been working on that by getting shots up with the gun almost every day and by also doing shooting drills that are more game like. I have played AAU circuit ball for the last three years. I played for Kevin Galloway with DNA on the Adidas circuit. I have played for Idaho Select in the Puma circuit. This this past summer I played on the E32 circuit for Culture Shock 17U. My stats for the summer was 12.2 PPG, 4.1 REB, 4.1 AST, 2.8 TO, 1.1 STL, 0.5 BLK, 48% FG, and 34% 3FG. I also have been at Phenom National camp for the past 3 years, I made the All-Star team my first year as a Sophomore, made the All-Hustle team my Junior year and going into my Senior year I made the All-Defensive team and got praise from former D1 coach David Taylor.

Outside Interests

Outside of the gym, I enjoy fishing, hunting, swimming, photography, camping and reading. For the past three basketball seasons I have worked as an uncertified referee for a local boys and girls Youth Basketball League, grades 3rd - 8th , averaging 8-10 games per weekend. Additionally, during the 2024-25 school season, I  officiated for several of our local middle school games. Refereeing has helped give me a better understanding of game situations, court vision, defensive rotation and an all around better respect for referees. I have become known in our community as a fair and reasonable referee, something I take great pride in, plus I enjoy giving back to my community, even though it is a paid position. During Spring 2025 semester, I  enrolled in an online class, "Officiating Youth Sports." I learned all the officiating aspects of Football, Basketball and Baseball/Softball, including Whistle Diplomacy, Conflict Resolution and Sportsmanship. At the end of the course, I successfully earned my official certification for basketball. This past summer, I have refed 8 games in one of our local High School summer ball tourneys. Refereeing basketball is something I see myself doing long-term, in college and beyond to help with spending money or as an addition to my income, as well as, being active in my community. This fall I am hoping to be an official referee for Girl's Middle school and/or Varsity games.
